Service of technological security of state documents (hereinafter – the Service) is celebrating its 30th anniversary.Since its establishment in 1995, the Service has consistently fulfilled its entrusted mission – to ensure technological protection of Lithuanian most important state documents against forgery.
Currently, the Register of secure documents and secure document forms contains 3,301 registered secure documents, including Lithuanian passports (Citizen’s passport, Service passport, Diplomatic passport), identity cards, driving licences, tax stamps, diplomas, various certificates, etc.).For all these documents, the Service established technological security features, designed them, supervised their production, and carried out their quality control.
It is notable that over the past three decades, the activities of the Service in implementing the most advanced technological security features in documents of the highest level of technological protection have become recognized and appreciated not only in Lithuania but also on an international scale.
In 2022, the Service was awarded for the new Identity card introduced in 2021. The document was recognized for its elegant design, incorporating national and ethnic motifs, and the integration of the newest technological security features. In 2020, Passport of the Republic of Lithuania was named the best new passport in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2017, the Lithuanian Driving licence received a special award in the category of identity and travel documents at an international conference on high-security printing in Europe.
This anniversary is not only an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the Service, but also to set new challenges for the future: to enhance the technological security system of documents, with a special focus on implementing advanced and innovative solutions in this field.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all partners of the Service who have stood with us over these 30 years – for their cooperation, trust and shared responsibility in safeguarding the security of state documents.
